GUE DISCOVER DIVING
Te first step to becoming a GUE Open Water Diver.
The most important decision has already been made: you're reading this, which means you're interested. But what should you know before starting your diving education?
First, try diving with your selected GUE instructor – no strings attached and without committing to a full course. The GUE Discover Diving program was specifically designed as an introduction for people with no prior diving experience. While this program doesn't lead to certification, it can serve as an introduction to a course or as a standalone experience. It will give you a sense of what you’re getting into, how the training will proceed, and whether you and the instructor are a good match.
Diving requires physical activity, and you rely on equipment that enables you to breathe underwater.
You'll need a basic understanding of physics and physiology, knowledge of the equipment, a team mentality, and the willingness to face challenges. You may even have to confront some fears since the underwater world is not a natural habitat for humans.
So just give it a try and see for yourself if you enjoy it. And if you do, we can promise you this – it won’t let go of you!
Prerequisites for the Discover Diving Program:
- Minimum age: 14 years
- Physically and mentally fit
- Able to swim
- Submit written approval from a doctor if prescribed medication (other than contraceptives) is used or if there is a medical condition that could pose a risk while diving.

Discover Diving Standards
The program typically takes place in one day and includes:
- At least one water session
- At least four hours of instruction, including theory, land exercises, and practical water exercises
- An optional open water dive may be conducted at the instructor’s discretion.
