Entering more advanced underwater environments often involves longer dive times and greater depths. To extend both safely, divers must increase their available breathing gas volume and add equipment redundancy.
The GUE Doubles Primer is a non-certification course designed to train divers safely and comfortably in using a twin-tank configuration, teaching the correct techniques and practices.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is aimed at anyone who wants to transition from a single tank to twin tanks. It is especially recommended for divers who wish to take the GUE Fundamentals course but have no prior experience with twin tanks.
The training is also suitable for divers not trained under the GUE system and can serve as a basic introduction to GUE training.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Key outcomes of the course include:
- Buoyancy and trim: Practice and refine these techniques while using twin tanks.
- Theory and use of the twin-tank configuration: Understand how twin tanks work and their advantages.
- GUE equipment configuration: Learn the standard GUE approach for organizing and using dive gear.
- Basic valve management: Understand how to manage your valves for safe diving with twin tanks.
Prerequisites and Duration
Applicants for the GUE Doubles Primer course must:
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Be physically and mentally fit.
- Be a non-smoker.
- Know how to swim.
- Obtain written approval from a doctor for taking prescription medications (except contraceptives) or for any medical condition that could pose a risk while diving.
- Hold a certification as an autonomous entry-level diver (or equivalent) from a recognized diving organization.
