GUE ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER
Requirements:
Divers who have completed the GUE Open Water course, GUE Performance Diver course, or GUE Fundamentals course and have logged at least 15 non-training dives are warmly welcome.
What Will I Learn?
The Advanced Open Water Diver Course consists of three main components: Navigation, Rescue, and Deep Diving.
-
Navigation:
You’ll refine your skills using a primary light, enabling you to conduct night dives, dives with limited visibility, and advanced compass or natural navigation. You’ll also learn how to deploy a guideline. -
Rescue:
Building on your existing knowledge, you’ll practice emergency management and rescue techniques, including search patterns and rescues from land, at the surface, and underwater. -
Deep Diving:
The deep diving portion of the course can be conducted using either Nitrox 32 or Triox 30/30. You’ll learn how these gases affect you at depth, how to plan deeper dives, and how to control descents and ascents. Performance Divers will also practice deploying a surface marker buoy (SMB) during navigation.
By the end of the course, you’ll become a much more confident and capable diver, ready to take on more challenging underwater adventures.
Requirements and Duration:
- Minimum age: 16 years
- Physically and mentally fit
- Non-smoker
- Ability to swim
- Written approval from a doctor for any medical conditions or prescription medications that may affect diving
- Completion of GUE Open Water (Recreational Diver 1), GUE Performance Diver, or GUE Fundamentals course
- At least 15 non-training dives
